When you complete this course you should be able to answer the three fundamental questions:
- who is this person?
- how did they get to be this way?
- how are they likely to develop from this point on?
This is an advanced psychology course that builds on the psychological concepts introduced in previous courses in the programme. This course allows you to utilise and develop further the skills you have learned in previous study. You will be reviewing theoretical and research-based knowledge, analysing and critiquing this knowledge and applying it to real life situations.
What you will learn
When you complete this course you will be able to:
- critically evaluate theories of human development, as a means of determining how major theories aid understanding of child and adolescent development
- critically evaluate research into child and adolescent development.
- identify and explain developmental processes
- discuss how biological, psychological and environmental factors impact on child and adolescent development
- make predictions about child and adolescent development based on your own analysis of case studies and theoretical explanations.
